VILLANUEVA II solar photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) is located in the municipality of Torrejoncillo del Rey, in Cuenca province.
Villanueva II PVPP, now under construction, will have 49.99 MWp of installed capacity.
This clean energy generating plant consists of 131,544 photovoltaic panels installed on a total surface area of 116.8 ha, although the area occupied by the panels is 26.7 ha.
As always, GRUPO ZARAGOZÁ development team has designed an installation with as minimal occupation as possible, along with only the strictly required permeable fencing to reduce any “barrier effect” for the area’s fauna.
Furthermore, we created a vegetation screen at least five metres wide around the installation’s perimeter, using native species with low water requirements, which are attractive to bees.
Other measures incorporated to favour entomological fauna include mowing as little as possible , respecting tree specimens, applying preventive measures against fire hazards (such as fire breaks and equipment) and using grazing cattle and/or sheep for clearing (thereby creating positive synergies with the area’s livestock farmers).
Construction and development of our PVPPs aims to work with towns to attain the goals and achievements of a sustainable environmental energy policy.
These goals are underpinned by the following fundamental principles:
- Reducing energy dependence,
- Harnessing renewable energy resources,
- Diversifying supply sources by incorporating the least polluting ones,
- Reducing greenhouse gas emission rates,
- Facilitating compliance with the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP).
